TO ALL WINNIPEG CHOIR MEMBERS AND LOVERS OF CHORAL SINGING:
A special performance dedicated to the late great folksinger and activist, Pete Seeger, is coming to Winnipeg the first Friday in May. The show is based on Seeger’s 1972 autobiography, ‘The Incompleat Folksinger’, spanning 35 years and featuring all or part of 29 songs. Winnipeg was almost a 2nd home to Seeger (in the years he was accused of being Un-American), and he performed here many times over the years. Seeger fans are more than welcome to attend, but one need not know anything about the man himself to get into the spirit of ‘the power of song’.
As Seeger was renowned for getting his audiences to sing along, performer Mark Hellman (formerly of Winnipeg, now based in Victoria BC) has been inviting choir members and music lovers to join in the singing at every opportunity, and is offering 25% off as an incentive to come down and join in!
